Vitamin A is an essential component of elastin and collagen. Over a long period damage from the environment occurs to these structures which results in a lessening of skin support which results in wrinkles and lines. What Are the Side Effects?
When first using a retinol skin care product you may observe some mild irritation, redness, stinging or itching. This is usually very temporary and is to be expected. If it lasts longer than a few days you should stop using the skin care product.
Retinol Increases Sun Sensitivity
It is best to use retinol skin care products in the evening or before bed. They do make the skin a little more sensitive to the sun so if you do use them in the day be certain to apply a sun screen as well.
