Warts are harmless growths on the skin which can appear almost anywhere on the body. They are caused by a common virus known as Human Papilloma Virus, or HPV. The virus infects a small area of your skin, the infection grows rapidly and results in a small bump on the surface of the skin.

Most warts are painless, except in areas where pressure is frequently put on them, such as the soles of the feet.

Warts are most common in children and young adults, although people of any age can be infected. They are spread by contact; you can infect yourself by touching a wart and then touching another part of your body, and the virus is easily transfered from one person to another by the sharing of razors, towels, or other personal items.

– Cryotherapy involves freezing the wart with a very cold liquid.

This fairly effective home remedy for wart removal involves placing duct tape over the wart for one week, then soaking the area in water and scrubbing with a pumice stone until the wart falls away.
